Blasta is a campaign to archive recipes and food artifacts cherished by families & communities across Ireland that explore the history of the island over the past 150 years. The aim is to gather food heritage, passed down through generations or relatively recently acquired, which reveal various aspects of Ireland’s history, culture and experience.

A partnership with TG4, the National Folklore Collection and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, this unique project explores the stories, the histories and the folklore behind family recipes and food objects currently in the hands of members of the public but we need you!

Whether it’s your granny’s unique recipe for apple tart, an old Home Economics notebook, a butter churn or even a well-used wooden spoon with a story to tell, the project is asking for people to participate so as to create a unique version of Irish food history and folklore as told by the people themselves.
