The importance of goats milk
Arna sheoladh ag Patricia Cavanagh
"The value of milk especially goats milk in our diet as children was most important. In the early summer months the goats dined on wild garlic or (ramps) as we called them. Subsequently the milk smelled and tasted of garlic and was absolutely horrendous to drink. As there was nothing else we just had to put up with it or else try and keep the goats from eating the ramps which was nearly impossible. In winter time when the goats were dry, our milk was collected from a local farmer and we carried it home in a wee can."
