My Nana’s porter cake

"There was always a cake in the tin in my house growing up. Porter cake reminds me of my childhood. I used to always help my mother and grandmother mix it. I found my nana’s handwritten recipe only recently it was in a box of old thing including ration books. Porter cake lasts for ages it’s a great cake to bake. I make a batch and leave it in the kitchen, it’s especially good with creamy butter on top. My partner has a brewing company so I use his stout which makes it extra special."
